We’ve prototyped a whole host of different short bladed Machete shapes over the years, but the Tanto remains one of the best we’ve tested. Although the “Americanized Tanto” is known primarily for its combative application, it also makes an excellent multi-purpose bushcraft blade. In our tests, the Tanto Machete cut and pierced exceptionally well while remaining tough enough to endure hard use. Its solid full-tang construction and hard wearing weather-resistant polypropylene handle only add to its durability and functionality.

Great New Style Machette

Good sized, unusual design for a machete, but it works nicely. Quality, nylon sheath with a plastic reinforced toe cap for added safety. The handle fits nicely into the hand with an excellent grip surface. Chops through brush with ease and the shorter length makes control easier and less tiresome. The Tanto style tip takes the weight off the end of the blade which I find is better. Feels reliable and will last a long time with proper care. Excellent value for money from Cold Steel. Good service from Extac as always.
