Initially I thought that the cane was a bit heavy but soon realised that it is very well balanced and that makes all the difference in usability. I use it daily and take it everywhere. It is comfortable in the hand inspires confidence. It was very easy to shorten to my height and a rubber foot was found at the local hardware store. I am very pleased overall and am very glad that I bought the axe head cane by Cold Steel.

Reassuring

I bought this for my hip replacement and so glad I did. The cane walking stick I've been using, digs into my palm after a while and doesn't give me a sure footed feel unlike the Cold Steel Axe Head Cane. I had to cut 3'' off for correct sizing and put a chair leg silicon plug on bottom for grip, purchased from Bunnings. If you had to defend yourself using this cane there are so many ways to do it. The curve under the axe head could hook a limb or neck to pull an attacker off, use it as a blunt axe or Bōjutsu. Extremely resilient, virtually unbreakable polypropylene. If you need to legitimately use a cane or walking stick, why wouldn't you use something that could save your skin if attacked.

I need a walking stick to get about each day and was sick of flimsy canes. No flimsy here!! The cane is one solid piece so there's no weak joins at all. The cane is rather heavy compared to ones I've been used to. but that was expected, as it is a heavy duty cane. The cane has plenty of length and can be easily cut to size. I have but one complaint which loses it a 5 star rating, and that is there is no rubber stopper for the bottom AT ALL, which makes the stick very dangerous on most surfaces. You lean on it and it just slides. For someone like myself who has a spinal injury coupled with osteoarthritis, that is a terrifying nightmare to have a stick slide out and you end up splat on the ground causing more injury than already existed. This stick does that often. I have since filed the bottom to shape and fitted a standard walking stick rubber shoe. Not something you would expect to have to do to a walking stick that was close to 100 bucks. If this stick had a shoe supplied, it would receive a 5 star rating.

It’s fantastic piece of equipment I purchased 2 of these one was for a friend and he is very impressed with it.I always take it with me whenever I go for a walk I use for posture support and to ward off any aggressive dogs!
