A little tune up for a perfect pen

I've got four of the Bastion bolt action pens. At around $400 the set it means I must like them a lot, The final pen I bought is the brass one. It suffers the same flaws as the others, as I mentioned in a previous review - The metal has sharp edges in the bolt gate and required filing smooth and the spring is way too strong and needed cutting down and stretching to the correct size to weaken it and thereby ease the pressure on the bolt so that it could be manipulated easily. Plus a little oil helped. The brass version has an extra flaw - when it arrived there were black blotches on the brass body, I think dye from the black foam packaging. But a thorough deep polishing of the brass got rid of them. The pen is now highly polished and looks magnificent. The Bastion brass is a well worth purchase for anyone who wants a pen he can be proud to display, but has the brutal utility of a railway spike. I just wish Bastion would improve its quality control. Meanwhile, I would like to thank EXTAC for its speedy delivery this time round, and the $5 voucher each time I purchase something.
